Paper Production

Sodium silicate is used in conjunction with hydrogen peroxide in bleaching processes for wood pulp and the textile industry. This process stabilizes the peroxide by exchanging metal bonds such as iron, copper, and magnesium, which would otherwise catalyze the oxygen present. Silicate-based formulations are also used in newspaper and magazine recycling to achieve a high level of recycling and good bleaching.
